Persona 5 and the franchise as a whole bring the hits in terms of its soundtrack, but it’s not bringing much in terms of Persona‘s future as a whole. Atlus has stated that the upcoming Super Live P-Sound concert will only be used as a venue to allow fans to reminisce on the funky tunes of Persona, and no major game announcement will be made. Atlus had made some announcements regarding the 25th anniversary of the franchise, but so far, not much in the way of new games.
Some fans were expecting the concert to bring to light some of the promised announcements Atlus made, but the official statement indicates that no new reveals or updates will be made at all. The year is wrapping up, and fans are itching for a potential Persona 6 announcement (the original Persona 5 was released nearly six years ago, so it’s about the right time). Sadly, they will have to wait a little while longer for some news regarding a sequel.
Not time to make history
So far, Atlus has only really made a few announcements in regards to the anniversary, with more promised along the way. These announcements were a remaster of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, digital wallpapers, and a new Atlus shop. Persona 3, 4, and 5 are set for PC ports, such as on Steam. Not very exciting, admittedly, for fans looking for projects of new games.
Initially, seven announcements of varying importance were to be made, but we’ll see if this number is honored before the end of the year. (Unless Persona 3, 4, and 5 count as three separate announcements, but the English website seems to indicate this is not the case). Regardless of any lack of a major announcement, the concert should still be a great source of entertainment if you’re excited about the Persona franchise and its music.
Persona Super Live P-Sound 2022 will take place on October 8 and October 9 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, and will likely be available online at a later date. Stay tuned for more news about Persona and the 25th anniversary.
