Say what you want about Overwatch 2, but the three newly introduced heroes, Sojourn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko, are highly expressive and fun characters that fit nicely in the Overwatch universe. Our faith in new Overwatch 2 heroes hasn’t wavered, so new hero announcements still come with an air of optimism. Blizzard is preparing to introduce the next Overwatch 2 hero, who will be revealed on November 4 following the Overwatch League finals.
News of the announcement broke through the official Overwatch Twitter account. Obviously, the news was there to tempt players to tune in to the Overwatch League finals for an early glimpse at the upcoming Overwatch 2 hero. Current rumors have have it that the newest hero is a tank champion named Mauga. If those rumors are correct, Mauga will have ties to the existing support hero Baptiste.
However, without official confirmation, anything is game. I’m still pushing for a new support hero, personally.
Get an early look at the next #Overwatch2 hero.
Friday, Nov 4 at #OWLGrandFinals.

More news after the finals
In terms of how we’ll unlock the next hero, there hasn’t been any news if the method of unlocking Overwatch 2 heroes will change. The latest hero, Kiriko, was locked for all newer players behind the battle pass. Either you purchase the battle pass, or you have to grind up to level 55 to get her. This battle pass monetization was a sticking point in our Overwatch 2 review. Thirty-plus hours of grinding weren’t enough to get Kiriko, so some changes would be welcome. (For those who completed the battle pass, at least some levels will carry over).
Meanwhile, there are other reasons why you might want to tune into the Overwatch League finals. Catching these esports games will grant you some Overwatch League tokens, which opens up the door to obtaining some new skins. Otherwise, be sure to check out the end of the game so you can find out who the new Overwatch 2 hero is as soon as possible.
