Paramount has announced that a new Top Gun game will hit PS3, PC, and Mac.Top Gun is being developed by doublesix with the aid of the film’s scriptwriter Jack Epps Jr. It’s described as a “free-flying air combat shooter,” which we suspect means it’s going to be very arcade focused. The game features two single-player and five multiplayer modes. Solo players have Campaign Mode – in which you play as Maverick, graduate from Top Gun, and then head out over the Indian Ocean for some live combat – and Horde Mode, pitting them against endless waves of enemy fighters.Multiplayer, on the other hand, has Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Top Gun, Bombing Run, and Capture the Flag. No, we’re not sure how the latter works in planes, either. In any case, you can play with up to 15 other opponents and use a variety of unlockable planes to work together or take them down.No word on whether there’ll be a volleyball minigame, which is a shame, as that’d make this a must-purchase.Top Gun is due out this summer. No word on why it’s not coming to 360, sadly.
