It looks like gamers will be receiving yet another tie-in from the depths of Tolkien’s tales. From the looks of it, the game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be hitting all current and next-gen consoles while accompanied by a PC release. The WB Games studio, Monolith Productions (Guardians of Middle-earth), will be taking on the development reigns.
For the moment, GameInformer holds the exclusive rights for coverage as it will be the upcoming cover for its December 2013 magazine.
According to the article, the game will take place in between events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series. The story follows protagonist Talion as he makes his way into the darkness-plagued land known as Mordor.
Here is the game’s official description from its Facebook “about” section:
Description
In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, you take on the role of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him. Through the course of Talion’s personal vendetta, you will uncover the truth of the Spirit that compels you, learn the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confront your true nemesis.
Those who are interested can head over to the games official website, where it has been less than thrilling to explore.
