After witnessing id Software’s recent success story with the Doom reboot, could it be that the developer might be keen on resurrecting another classic FPS franchise?
We are talking here about Quake who hasn’t been around for almost 10 years (Quake Wars–released on PC) and now it looks like id Software might be preparing a brand new Quake reboot akin to the recent Doom game. At least that’s what a new job listing is implying.
The studio has no less than twelve open positions at is Texas office, including some major roles like Backend Server Programmer, Lead Gameplay Programmer, and a Senior Lightning Artist. id Software Germany is also hiring for five positions, including a Senior Engine Programmer and a Senior Physics Programmer.
If you can’t find any interesting points about these job listings, wait till you read the following job description for these job roles:
“id Software is looking for a Senior Physics & Simulation Programmer to work as part of a development team on legendary id game properties like DOOM and QUAKE,”
Of course, this doesn’t have to mean something regarding a possible Quake reboot and we will definitely not see a game like this being released earlier than 2018. But it’s nevertheless a pretty intriguing story, especially now, where the gaming world is enjoying Doom’s reboot across all platforms.
