Hood Outlaws & Legends Gameplay

New Hood: Outlaws & Legends gameplay features ultimate abilities and frag grenades

"Quick, hand me a grenade!" - Probably Robin Hood

Just earlier this week, Focus Home Interactive and Sumo Digital delivered details regarding future content for Hood: Outlaws & Legends. The update provided an overview of the game’s roadmap for future content. It also included info regarding the free content coming to all players in the first year, alongside plans for the premium passes. Future content updates are good and all, but that doesn’t cover the thirst for gameplay that many have right now. Today, the development team provided some much-needed commentary along with eight minutes of Hood: Outlaws & Legends gameplay.

The gameplay people can expect from Hood: Outlaws & Legends was one of the first things mentioned in the commentary. The game pits two teams of four players against each other in order to secure the heist. The kicker here is that the Sheriff can deal a one-hit death blow if he catches you. That doesn’t even include the band of not-so-merry men who are alerted if you’re seen. As well, the enemy team can hunt you down once they spot you.

While it seems like most of the Hood: Outlaws & Legends gameplay paints itself as a cat and mouse game, the new trailer shows off much of the close-quarters combat. For example, the Ranger in the demo is able to slice, shoot, and even punch people with arrows for a full takedown. This is all while enemy soldiers swarm in on foot.

The narrator goes on to cover some of the Ranger’s perks. Areas with large maps can benefit from selecting such perks as “Focused Flight” as it allows you to execute distanced shots due to the map size. However, any run-in with the Sheriff can turn deadly with the previously mentioned one-hit kill. In the demo, the team starts to push as soon as the Sheriff starts attacking the enemy team.

The gameplay goes on to showcase many of the features you’ll find in Hood: Outlaws & Legends, including ultimate abilities. This is an interesting way to insert modern objective-based multiplayer mechanics into a game based on Robin Hood. Even items like frag grenades have found their way in.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends releases on May 10, 2021, for $29.99 USD.
