Fans of the books and movies have been generally anticipating Hogwarts Legacy, as it represents a chance for players to create their own students and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for themselves. Developer Avalanche Software has previously revealed that companions and choices play a prominent role, and this has been shown off in a new trailer for Hogwarts Legacy that was revealed at Opening Night Live during Gamescom 2022.
The new trailer for the game can be viewed below. It shows off a player investigating Salazar Slytherin’s catacombs, fighting zombie-like monsters, and then being forced to make a choice between using the Crucio curse or having it be used upon themselves. Harry Potter fans should know that Crucio is one of the three forbidden curses, and it tortures the receiver upon contact.
“Should you choose to befriend Slytherin student Sebastian Sallow, you will be faced with the decision to embrace or reject the Dark Arts as you uncover his family’s mystery through his companion quest line,” reads the trailer’s description. “Will you choose to learn this dark magic? Focusing on one of Hogwarts Legacy’s optional companion quest lines with Sebastian Sallow, the Dark Legacy trailer provides a glimpse at the forbidden curses and difficult dilemmas players will face as they learn more about the Sallow family’s mystery and decide whether to engage with, or even embrace, the dark arts.”
A bag of magical tricks
The latest trailer for Hogwarts Legacy ends by telling fans about the bonuses they can get by ordering the deluxe edition of the game. The deluxe edition of Hogwarts Legacy includes the Dark Arts pack. This features a Thestral mount, Dark arts cosmetic set, and a dark arts battle arena. Beyond the Dark Arts pack, the deluxe edition will also give players an onyx hippogriff mount, dark arts garrison hat, and 72 hours of early access to the game.
After a recently announced delay, Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PC on February 10, 2023.
