The next big expansion pack for The Sims 4 is releasing very soon, alongside a new update. In a livestream, the team behind The Sims 4 have revealed new features for The Sims 4: Growing Together expansion pack, as well as a free Infant update. While the expansion pack must be purchased, a new update will be available for everyone, adding a whole new life stage for Sims.
The Sims 4 team shares features in a new free update
Instead of jumping from a newborn to a toddler, your Sims can now raise their babies more realistically in this new update. Interacting with Infants will be a drastic change, as they will have 18 quirks to discover. Infants are smaller than toddlers, but more interactive than newborns. Like other Sims, you can customize Infants in the ‘Create a Sim’ menu, with adorable onesies, shirts, hats, and more.
Not only are there new Create a Sim items, but there will be plenty of new furniture options. Just to name a few, some furniture revealed in the livestream included cribs, basinets, lamps, toys, tables, and rugs. One interesting furniture item is the play pen, in which you can create a fenced-off area for your Infant to play in. Other activities to do with your infant Sim is feeding, bathing, teaching and playing.
The Infant update goes hand-in-hand with Growing Together
The new Infant update plays a huge role in the upcoming Growing Together expansion pack. This pack revolves around a new ‘Family Dynamics’ mechanic and “growing up” with your Sims. Creating stories with your Sims is the main focus of this pack, where you’ll be able to decide what dynamics each Sim has with one another. It will include more clothing and hair styles like most packs, but also a ton of gameplay changes.
Growing Together introduces the new world of San Sequoia, a fishing town that includes three neighborhoods. There will be many outdoor activities to partake in, since this pack adds many outdoor toys and items. One of these items is an Infant carrier that lets your Sim carry around their baby on their back. Also, child Sims can finally ride bikes and engage in family activities with their parents.
