The Season of the Witch is upon us in Destiny 2. The new season comes fresh off the heels of the Destiny Showcase event, which has the community happier than they have been in a long time. Unfortunately, the Season of the Witch also brought a new unintended threat with it. It’s not the Witness or a Hive bigshot. It’s the Warlock’s Strand Aspect.
New Destiny 2 Warlock Strand Aspect is breaking PvP
The Warlock ability that’s causing all the ruckus is Weavewalk Aspect. In PvP, this Aspect renders the Warlock nigh unkillable for a short period. In this time, the player can capture a point or score in Rift.
Twitter user @mislead posted a short clip of the ability in action. For lack of a better word, it’s disgusting.

Users on the Destiny 2 Subreddit aren’t exactly thrilled about it either. User u/Nothinfearsme posted a video called “This new strand Warlock aspect is kinda strong.” That’s quite an understatement, as they survive multiple Guardians pelting them with gunfire.
It seems like Supers still take down Weavewalker Warlocks rather quickly, but Guardians don’t have those available for most of a match. Sniper Headshots can’t secure the kill, and if the Warlock puts down a Healing Rift, it’s even worse.
Broken abilities are nothing new in Destiny 2 PvP. I still have nightmares about the infinite Void Bomb glitch from a few years ago! Bungie will no doubt address the situation sooner rather than later, but the issue isn’t when; it’s how. Bungie has the undesirable task of balancing a game with both PvE and PvP modes. A hasty nerf to fix an issue in PvP can have dire consequences in PvE. It’s impossible to please every Guardian, but the last thing we need is to have a new ability stripped of all value so early into the new season.
