When developer Brace Yourself Games returned to Crypt of the NecroDancer with a hot, new update, the studio teased something big was on the way. Earlier today, the team at last unveiled what it’s been working on. Crypt of the NecroDancer: Synchrony is a massive DLC pack, bringing new characters, mod support, and online multiplayer — yes, that means co-op. Not only that, but the team teased the next game in the franchise: Rift of the NecroDancer. Yep, it’s no longer secret.
NecroDancer fans are feasting today. Crypt of the NecroDancer: Synchrony is not a small DLC, to say the very least. Shown off in a trailer, it’ll bring three new characters to the dance floor: Chaunter, who can posses enemies; Suzu, who’s fast and has a dash attack; and Klarinetta, a fighter that brings the pain with a two-handed sword. The DLC also brings online co-op and versus battles to Crypt of the NecroDancer, supporting up to eight players at once. Now, it really is a rave. Full mod support will be baked in with access via a mod portal.
And the better news: it’s playable today. Crypt of the NecroDancer: Synchrony is available on Steam in Early Access, going for $6.29 USD today with a 10% discount. You’ll be able to play with friends (or enemies), and toy around with all the new weapons, shrines, enemies, and spells the DLC brings. As it is in Early Access, the developer is promising more is getting added over time.
A new NecroDancer game is on the horizon
Brace Yourself Games also teased the next game in the franchise: Rift of the NecroDancer. There’s not much known about the game at this time. But, according to the trailer, it will be a “new standalone rhythm game in the NecroDancer universe.” In the tease, we hear a woman speak, presumably the protagonist Cadence. She says: “Looks like they’ve got it handled. And me? Well, I’ve got somewhere to be.” We’ll hopefully see her return soon.
