The drug war will hit a whole new level when Narcos: Rise of the Cartels comes to PC next month. Today, Curve Digital and the developers at Kaju debuted a new trailer for the game, which is based on the hit Netflix series of the same name. In doing so, they also confirmed the game’s official release date: November 19.
The trailer provides a good idea of what to expect from the gameplay. Rise of the Cartels lets players choose to side with either the DEA or the Cartel. From there, they’ll engage in a full-on battle in 1980s Colombia El Patron, where the Medellin Cartel holds influence. It’s up to you and your team to decide whether to continue the cartel’s rise or defeat them before it’s too late.
Narcos’ gameplay
This is a tactical turn-based experience, as players will direct several units on their team. Over the course of the game, there are opportunities to move them around multiple times in a turn, based on where you want them. At any time, you’ll be able to take direct control of your team members, should the situation call for it.
You can put together your strike team however you please, with a number of class-specific roles. This includes supporters from a distance, as well as agents and gunrunners that know how to fight up close. You can also upgrade their skills and join lead characters from the series as you dominate each area within Colombia.
But be careful. Each action can have an effect on your team. Make a wrong move, and you could face dire consequences.
Fans of the show will recognize a number of familiar locations and characters. These include El Mexicano, Murphy, Pena, Primo, and others, each with their own special perks. Check out the trailer below to get an idea of what’s in store for Narcos fans when the game arrives next month!
