The forthcoming February issue of Official Xbox Magazine is emblazoned with the headline “Tomb Raider Multiplayer Revealed,” a story that has been confirmed by a Crystal Dynamics community manager over at TombRaiderForums.com.
Details are sparse at present (no doubt OXM will have negotiated a controlled release of the information with Square, so as not to ruin magazine sales), but it is known that the multiplayer portion of the game will be developed separately by a team at Eidos Montreal.
“Tomb Raider will include a multiplayer offering thanks to the hard work of our sister-studio, the hugely talented Eidos Montreal. The team at Eidos Montreal has been working away at the multiplayer while we focused everything on the single-player offering,” the post on TombRaiderForums states.
That’s pretty much it in terms of specific details, so for now we’ll have to just wait for Square to uncork the info-bottle.
Eidos Montreal are best known for their work on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The studio is also said to have been working on Thief 4 since 2009.
