Mortal Kombat X launch trailer released

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

The launch trailer for Mortal Kombat X has hit, and it’s possibly the weirdest System of a Down music video I’ve seen. Not that I’ve seen many, admittedly.

Recommended Videos

The video is directed by System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian and is set to the strains of Chop Suey, and features both quick cuts of cutscenes, and quite a lot of basic gameplay footage. No HUD or anything like that, but an awful lot of side-on punching/kicking/fireball-ing.

Mortal Kombat X is a direct sequel to its predecessor, the simply named Mortal Kombat, and features two generations of fighters battling it out. Other than returning fighters like Raiden and Johnny Cage, there are also newcomers like Cassie Cage and Jacqueline Briggs.

Mortal Kombat X is due out next week, on 14 April.

When not writing about games, Tim can occasionally be found speedrunning terrible ones, making people angry in Dota 2, or playing something obscure and random. He's also weirdly proud of his status as (probably) the Isle of Man's only professional games journalist.
