More Bioshock 2 DLC Arriving 29 April

This article is over 14 years old and may contain outdated information

Tucked away in today’s Xbox LIVE Newsbeat are details of some new Bioshock 2 DLC.The ‘Rapture Metro Map Pack’ promises to bring six new maps, a multiplayer rank of 50 (err … again), two additional multiplayer masks and three new achievements (confirmed as ‘Rank 50’, ‘Adam Addict’ and ‘Killing Time.’)Perhaps more interesting are mentions of a ‘Kill ’em Kindly’ melee mode and mysterious ‘Rebirth’ mode.Posters on the Official Bioshock 2 forums are curious to know whether this latest DLC content is already present on their game discs, as it was last time. If, as is being suggested by some posters, the new maps are not already present, it would bring 2K’s prior explanation about their method of delivering DLC into some question. When pressed about the first DLC content being already present on the game disc, 2K stated “The way our engine and game structure works is that people need to have the exact same content for people to play together … For this content, creating the DLC package the way we did allowed for us to not split the player base – so whether you purchase the new content or not, you can still play with your friends.”Are 2K now prepared to split their player base, or are the forthcoming maps once again already present on the Bioshock 2 disc and just waiting for activation? It’s perhaps also worth noting that players are still crying out for a multiplayer patch to fix some issues that the game has had since launch. Back in mid-March, 2K stated that “DLC is not interfering with our patching capabilities, which are a top priority.”The Rapture Metro Map Pack is due on 29 April for Xbox 360, priced at 800 MS Points. No details regarding PC or PS3 releases have emerged as yet, but we would imagine they’ll be confirmed soon.
