The fifth free title update for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne launches today, and brings new content, seasonal events, and more. The Final Stand update is as the name suggests, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne‘s last major content drop. The update goes live later today, and brings a substantial list of changes and new bits of content.
The most noteworthy addition is the return of Fatalis as a boss fight. Old school Monster Hunter fans will know this one from its appearance in the original game, and Capcom is giving Iceborne a huge send-off by bringing it back. It will take the shape of a limited-time hunt event on October 16, where players can take on the mighty Fatalis.
This more powerful form of an Elder Dragon packs a slurry of frigid attacks for Hunters to contend with, and you’ll need more than your wits about you to defeat it. Thankfully, the rewards are worth it, as the hunt provides the materials necessary to forge advanced Palico gear, weapons, and armors featuring new bonus skills.
Spooky season
Starting October 16 and going through November 5, Seliana’s Lunar Terrace will be decorated like a gruesome graveyard for the new seasonal event. The event is titled the Fun Fright Festival, and brings a new spectral Poogie costume, seasonal Palico gear, a paid seasonal Handler costume, a new snowman design, and a spooky selection of sweets at the game’s canteen. It’s not all cosmetic though. Fun Fright Festival also delivers log-in bonuses, seasonal bounties and event quests to obtain the new Demonlord armor. You can also pick up new layered armor including the Skull Scarf, Kadachi Scarf, and more.
The Final Stand update brings a few quality of life improvements too. Hunters can now equip the new Clutch Claw Boost skill which allows them to gather monster parts more easily and more frequently to create slinger ammo drops. Crafting options have also been expanded in this update. There’s an extended list of decorations to craft, and fashion conscious Hunters will now be able to craft Layered Armor of any set in the game.
The final Monster Hunter World: Iceborne update launches later today, October 1.
