Modern Warfare introduced a new game mode this year in Gunfight. This is a fast-paced, 2v2 one-life mode that has been well received by the community, and it even beta’d a built-in tournament mode in November. Gunfight, along with other forms of multiplayer, is receiving a huge content update for season one on December 3. Let’s take a look at what players can hope to see with Gunfight in the near future.
Map showcase
Several Modern Warfare YouTubers were able to get some hands-on experience with the two new Gunfight maps coming in season one. Cargo is a new map, but a familiar one. This 2v2 map takes place under the popular Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare map Wet Work. Meanwhile, Atrium looks to take place in a dusty ruin type area, which is a setting I haven’t experienced in Call of Duty before. eColiEspresso uploaded a video showcasing Cargo and Atrium ahead of the season one launch.
The announcement screenshot from Infinity Ward states that Cargo, Atrium, and more will arrive in season one, so expect even more Gunfight maps to come to Modern Warfare in the near future.
1v1 and 3v3
Modern Warfare developer Joe Cecot confirmed on Twitter that Infinity Ward is hard at work on 1v1 and 3v3 modes for Gunfight. This is very exciting for the game, as it offers even more ways to play the game. You can play solo and not have to worry about getting a bad teammate, or you can bring an extra friend to the Gunfight. This also opens the door for more tournament opportunities alongside the built-in tournament mode that Infinity Ward showcased last month. There is no ETA on when these modes will be available, but I imagine it won’t be much longer.
At some point, also 1v1!

All this free content is very exciting for us Call of Duty fans, and Infinity Ward continues to say that this is just the beginning.
