Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has garnered substantial praise and criticism alike since its launch. One of the main issues players continue to voice their opinions about is the lack of 6v6 maps in the game and the overall structure of the majority of them. Thankfully, art director Joel Emslie has confirmed that more 6v6 maps will be coming to the game soon.
6v6 maps coming
Emslie confirmed that more 6v6 maps are coming to Modern Warfare through a Twitter comment where a fan stated that, “We need more 6v6 maps.” Emslie replied that he and Infinity Ward “completely hear you guys on this. Been working on it and continue. As fast as we humanly can.” I would imagine that Season Two isn’t very far away and that these new 6v6 maps will be a part of it.

Map design
Infinity Ward stated before the launch of Modern Warfare that they had brought some of the map designers in from the original Modern Warfare to help create maps for their new installment. Call of Duty has traditionally followed a three-lane design when it comes to multiplayer maps. Modern Warfare features hardly any maps that follow that design style though. At launch, the community was very harsh about maps like Picadilly due to the lack of structure the map offered.
Bringing back the greats
Season One came around in early December and offered three remakes of fan-favorite maps: Vacant, Shipment, and Crash. These maps received small changes, but for the most part, they kept their design and structure. While bringing back these maps was a good thing, it didn’t fix the fact that a majority of the new Modern Warfare maps were disliked.
Hopefully, Infinity Ward has heard the community’s desires for the maps to follow a three-lane format similar to previous titles in the Call of Duty series.
