Modern Warfare 3’s transfer system has players confused – Carry Forward System Explained

However, before players dive into the game, they’re going to want to get a grasp of the new carry-over system that is being implemented within the game, from its predecessor, Modern Warfare 2.

We’re going to run over the carryover system for players below!

Carry Over Explained

While most of the time when we purchase a new Call of Duty each year and load into it for the first time, the most rewards we’d have is some sort of pre-order bonuses and what not. This will not be the case with Modern Warfare 3, as Activision is taking a different approach when it comes to the release of the title, as it’s going to be a direct continuation of the MW2.

This essentially means players will technically be starting from scratch in terms of new weapons, and unlocks; but a vast majority of their other unlocks, such as cosmetics will carry over from Modern Warfare 2.

In a Call of Duty blog post, they noted the following:

“The term “Carry Forward” simply refers to content currently available to players in Modern Warfare II and the current version of Call of Duty: Warzone (such as weapons and cosmetic content, including Bundles, Operators, and other rewards and unlocks from the game), and how much of it will be accessible in Modern Warfare III.”

In short, the following items will carryover from MW2 to MW3.

  • Weapons and Blueprints
  • Operator Skins
  • Emblems
  • Stickers
  • Calling Cards
  • Loading Screens
  • Vehicle and Equipment Skins

The biggest surprise here is the weapons being transitioned over, as they’ve stated:

“All Modern Warfare II weapons will be available for Modern Warfare III players, although each weapon’s associated unlock challenge must be completed before it becomes accessible in MWIII. Any Blueprints also carry forward, and certain MWII Blueprints available via Store Bundles will also be available to purchase in MWIII.”

Be sure to let us know what you think of this carryover process coming in Modern Warfare 3!
