Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Compound Bow Torque 35: How to unlock and best loadout

I love gimmick weapons!

We’ve seen Bows of all shapes and sizes sprinkled throughout Call of Duty history. If you want to relive the glory days, let me show you how to unlock the Compound Bow Torque 35 in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) and the best loadout for it.

How to unlock the Compound Bow Torque 35 in MW3

The Torque 35 is locked behind Week 5 Challenges in Season 5 Reloaded. There are 15 challenges available, but you only need to complete 5 to unlock the bow. The unlock method is the same as the JAK Aftermarket parts.

If you own Modern Warfare 3, you’ve got the easiest challenges, and here’s what I recommend to add the Torque 35 to your collection quickly:

  • Get 25 Operator Kills with an Alternate Ammo equipped.
  • Get 5 Operator Kills with Claymores, Proximity Mines, or C4.
  • Use a Field Upgrade 15 times.
  • Get 5 Operator Kills with Killstreaks.
  • Get 20 Operator Kills with Explosions.

You should be able to complete all of these challenges within a few games. You can equip Alternate Ammo with most weapons in the Gunsmith Menu. Use something like High Grain Rounds and every one of your kills will count toward the challenge.

If you go for the 20 Operator Kills with Explosions, you may as well go for the Claymore, Mines, or C4 Kills as well. You can always score cheeky kills with Claymores and Mines by putting them around corners or next to doorways.

Frag Grenades are great for the challenge as you can cook them (hold before throwing) and give your opponents zero time to react.

Killstreaks are arguably the trickiest kills to get for the Torque 35, but head to a small map, and you won’t have to play long to earn the streaks.

If you read this guide after the challenge period has expired, you can likely obtain the Torque 35 as an Armory Unlock.

What are the best Challenges if I don’t own MW3?

You can still earn the Torque 35 without MW3, but as you may expect, the Challenges are much more difficult. Here are the tasks I recommend, as they are the easiest of the bunch:

  • Open 50 Loot Caches
  • In Warzone Fortune’s Keep, get 10 Operator Kills in the North
  • Complete 10 Contracts
  • In Warzone Fortune’s Keep, get 10 Operator Kills in the South
  • In Warzone Fortune’s Keep, get 10 Operator Kills in the East

The Challenges are pretty uninspired, but if you play on Fortune’s Keep, you’ll eventually complete them all. You will need at least 30 Operator Kills, and the other tasks will come naturally.

Keep an eye on your Challenge progression and be ready to move to another map region once you’ve completed one.

The Torque 35 is classed as a Launcher, which typically doesn’t have attachment options. That said, the Bow has a few ammo options. The Ripper Arrows deal a ton of damage and are your go-to ammunition for stylish Bow kills.

The Ripper Arrows can kill the furthest target in the Firing Range in a single shot, which makes the Torque 35 an incredible secondary weapon.

Our other Arrow options are more utility-based and lack the kick of the Rippers. That said, the Blaze Arrows work against Riot Shield users, and the Snapshot Arrows are great for squad play.

Best loadout for the Compound Bow Torque 35 in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3)

The Bow is a strong weapon, but its lousy rate of fire means you need a solid primary weapon as backup.

As I’ve been slaying with it, the Superi 46 SMG is a solid choice. This ferocious SMG has been a meta-pick since its inception, and I can’t see that changing any time soon.

I’m beating a dead horse with these throwable recommendations, but Smoke Grenades are still the absolute best. Nothing beats the utility of Smoke Grenades in Warzone. You can create cover out of thin air and safely traverse open terrain.

Smoke Grenades are even great for squad play, as they become a powerful tool when reviving teammates. There’s a good reason why pro players swear by Smoke Grenades, and you need a very good reason not to use them.

I love the Throwing Knife for my lethal option, as it instantly kills downed opponents. There’s nothing wrong with Semtex (sorry, Sticky Grenades) or Frag Grenades if you prefer a more traditional approach.

Best Perks to Use with the Compound Bow Torque 35

To round off our build, let’s look at the Perks. Here’s what I typically use, as this loadout suits my aggressive playstyle. I recommend swapping High Alert for Ghost if you’re a passive player.

  • Sleight of Hand
  • Battle Hardened
  • Tempered
  • High Alert

Sleight of Hand isn’t essential in most builds, but I feel it’s necessary with a launcher, and you’ll value that snappy reload speed if you miss.

I rate Smokes above all other throwables, but you’ll still eat your fair share of Stuns and Flashes in Warzone. Battle Hardened gives some welcome protection against these effects and can save your life.

Tempered is decent if you’re an aggressive player as it helps with your Plate economy. You can reengage faster as you only need two plates for a full vest, and those precious seconds matter in a gunfight. Finally, I rock High Alert as it shows when I’m being looked at. I love the comfort of Ghost, but it only works when there’s a UAV in the sky. High Alert works 100% of the time and gives more value overall.

If you’re not a fan of SMGs to go with your Compound Bow Torque 35, why not try the SVA 545 instead? The SVA is a traditional Assault Rifle and a solid mid-long-range option.
