The launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 didn’t exactly go off without a hitch. Numerous bugs and errors have been reported by players, causing both games to launch with ‘Mixed’ ratings on Steam. It’s rough out there, soldiers, and it’s not getting any better. A new error code has popped up in Modern Warfare 2, and it reads ‘a player that your platform denies’ — but below are some steps on how you may fix it.
The ‘a player that your platform denies’ error seems to occur when you’re trying to play the game in local co-op. The full error reads, “a player that your platform denies permission to play with you has joined the game,’ and it prevents you from playing with friends or family in split-screen mode. There are also reports that it can pop up if you’re trying to play online.
Modern Warfare 2 – How to fix ‘a player that your platform denies’ error
The bad news is that, as of this writing, there doesn’t seem to be an easy fix for the error. As it pops up, the game asks if you’d like to leave the lobby. Your only answer in this situation is ‘yes.’ Afterwards, you can recreate the lobby and try again. However, you may find some luck by going through the gamut when faced with similar issues. Restart your game and try again. If that doesn’t work, restart your platform and give it another shot.
Activision has a Modern Warfare 2 Trello board that details current known issues. It would be a good idea to keep an eye on the board to see if the problem gets solved. You can also follow the Activision Support Twitter feed to get updates and alerts for issues as they come in and get fixed.
