Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded has kicked off, and Activision has provided the details in some new patch notes. Among the highlights is a “new take” on Shipment, a small-ish map that appeared in previous CoD games. There’s also a double XP event starting up, weapon balances, and Call of Duty‘s first-ever Raid. For those looking for more content in Activision’s recent shooters, this week is your week.
Modern Warfare 2 – Season 1 patch notes details
While Season 1 Reloaded for Modern Warfare 2 has started, one event is still incoming. Notably, the double XP event for most won’t begin until tomorrow. PlayStation players are already enjoying the boost early, because of course. However, PC users will start receiving double XP for weapons and players starting December 15 at 1 PM ET. The event runs until December 19.
Shipment returns with Season 1 Reloaded. The 6v6 map has been a little reworked, though Activision doesn’t clarify any major changes. However, from December 21 to January 4, you can join The Naughty List playlist for a version of the map decked out in a holiday theme.
Welcome to the Raid
Call of Duty‘s first Raid is available in Season 1 reloaded. This first episode, called Atomgrad Episode 1, is “an exciting mix of combat and puzzles for 3-person teams to explore.” The Raid includes a narrative to follow, of which players will learn more over the next five seasons. Its story picks up after the conclusion of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign, and will reintroduce you to “old friends.”
There are some steps you need to take before the Raid can be played. Here are the requirements (via Activision):
- Complete a specific Daily Challenge either in Multiplayer or Special Ops.
- Place within the top 20 in any Warzone 2.0 Battle Royale Playlist.
- In DMZ, use the final exfil helicopter with at least $30,000 in Cash.
Once completed, you’ll gain access to the Raid Assignment, which is active for one week. Even though it can support three players, only one will need access for all three to play. There are rewards for completing the Raid, and they randomize and change based on how many times you finish and on what difficulty.
Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded patch notes
Let’s say you’re a little burnt out on gunning down foes in Warzone 2 and want to chill a bit. Well, Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded may have a pleasant surprise in its patch notes. Warzone Cup is a limited-time mode where you and two buddies go against a team of three in a Rocket League-esque game of car football. Hopping onto ATVs (with a pulse ability), you scoot around a grassy field in order to knock a football into the goal. The first team to five goals wins.
DMZ mode is getting a new area to explore. Called Building 21, you can access it via keys scattered around in Al Mazrah. Building 21 is a biological laboratory, which Activision describes as a “hyper-dangerous new area.” Proceed with caution.
Beyond this, Activision notes that the LA Thieves Operator now has more accent colors on the goggles and straps. Both sides are complaining.
And of course, bug fixes
The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 1 Reloaded patch notes include a litany of balance changes and bug fixes. There are really too many to list here in this humble post. However, some of the highlights include an increase of active Strongholds from three to five in Warzone 2, an increase of First Aid Kit items in DMZ mode, and more.
