Massive Helldivers 2 update adds new Automaton enemies, hidden changes, and more.

Sneaking in some Automatons

There is no denying that when Arrowhead released their smash hit game it needed some serious work. Now, with update patch 01.000.200 for Helldivers 2, many much-needed changes have been added, along with some other rather interesting ones.

Helldivers 2 update and patch

Yet another update has been rolled out to waiting fans of Helldivers 2. However, update 01.000.200 is a big one, clocking in at over 5GB. What have they managed to cram into this significant patch? Mostly, it is just balancing weapons and stability updates. But, once we get into it, I have noticed quite a few other additions, as well as some hidden changes.

All new enemies

Helldivers 2 has introcudes two new enemies in their latest update, furthering the necessity for violence. Both of these enemies are on the Automaton side, but they are going to switch the game up significantly. These enemies will only be seen in the higher level missions above 7.

The first of the new Automanton enemies are the gunships. These flying fortress rain hell from above and are able to follow you through the field. The new Helldivers 2 update brings these laser loaded mosters to higher level difficulty missions. So far, people are still trying to work out the best way to take them down. My bet would be the Quasar or the Spear.

The second new hidden update Arrowhead has thrown into the update mix is the Automaton Walkers. Now, you may be thinking of the two legged, piloted, walkers already in the game. These are definitely not that. The new update brings Bile Titan sized enemies to the Helldivers 2 maps. These lumbering war machines stop at nothing and are loaded with some serious firepower.

Weather updates

Weather has become a thing in Helldivers 2, usually for the worse. The Ion storms that plague the maps are a nightmare to deal with. They cut out all Stratagem use and lower visibility. However, with the 01.000.200 update for Helldivers 2 we have two more to add to the list.

The first weather update is a Blizzard that can crop up on the colder maps. This will work to slow reloads, reduce visibility, and make the game much harder to play. Shooting the clouds to death is the answer.

The second addition to the random weather events in Helldivers 2 is a Sandstorm for the hotter planets. I imagine this will work much in the same way as the Blizzard, slowing things down, reducing visibility, and generally making thing miserable.

Level cap increase

I don’t think Arrowhead quite anticipated how well their game would do on release. Therefore, they left the level cap at 50. I know people who hit that cap within days of the game coming out. However, now, with the latest Helldivers 2 update, we have a much higher level cap of 150.

If you have been stuck on the 50 level cap up until now, all the XP you have earned will go towards you new level. This means you may find you have a huge bonus to your level when you log in.

Blood, so much blood

I love how my Helldiver looks when they have been through, well, hell. If I manage to keep a Helldiver alive through a lot of carnage they look ruined. They are covered in blood, their cape is shredded, and this is just what I want to see.

Now with the latest update, when you return to the ship, your Helldiver will still be covered in the grime of war. You can prance about the squeaky clean bridge of whatever ship you’re on, covered in vicera and filth. Be careful not to touch anything though, I just got those seats reupholstered.

Helldivers nerfs and buffs update

As with any update there have been a significant amount of nerfs and buffs to weapons and armor. this has made several things much more powerful, and a few things a lot worse. Shaking things up is good for the Meta.

Two things of note are the buffs to both Light and Medium armor, making them much more resistant. I was often finding myself turned to mincemeat in one shot with anything less than heavy, so the change is welcome.

The other change of note is to the Arc Thrower. This Helldivers 2 update has ensured the charge time is always the same, reduced the range, and increased the stagger. These are all necessary, but you still won’t catch me using that team-killing piece of crap.
