Relic has revealed more on Dawn of War 2’s forthcoming “There is Only War” update. The patch is set to add “tremendous value to the multiplayer experience,” according to the developer blog, and contains a raft of new features and updates. The patch will add Observer and Referee options which allow players to spectate “with a detailed look at the status of all players,” although no detail is given on the difference between an Observer and a Referee. You’ll also see a whopping eight new multiplayer maps – four for two players, two for four players, and two for six players, if that’s not too confusing – which almost doubles the map count, bringing it up to 17.Naturally, there are also balance changes, bug fixes, and – somewhat more intriguingly – “new abilities.”Perhaps the most exciting news for devoted players is that the update is sufficiently large that it will features an open beta, available to all Dawn of War II owners, which will go live in early July. The “There is Only War” update is due out sometime this summer and should revitalise the game somewhat, which is always something we’re happy to see when we like a game.
