It seems that the script for the Mass Effect movie is finished. Mark Protosevich, writer of the I Am Legend and Thor movies, has penned the script.

A post by production company Legendary Films states that the movie will be centred on the “story of the original Mass Effect game” and “focus on Commander Shepard’s journey”. That’s a backtrack from the original plans Legendary had for the film, the company saying late last year that it wouldn’t be based on the story from the games.

No news on who going’s to play Shepard or who will direct the movie. It has been confirmed, however, that Shepard will be male.

Legendary would not comment directly on whether they plan to make the movies out of the other two games in the series, merely saying:

“We are really focused on making this a great movie, so we’ll see where it takes us.  We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more.”

Excited for a Mass Effect movie? Think it should follow the story from the games? Who should play Shepard.

Given fan reaction to the third Mass Effect game, those are questions that are unlikely to be answered in a manner that pleases everyone.
