Mass Effect 3 sales more than first two games combined, tops chart

Mass Effect 3 is well on the way to recouping development costs having gone straight to number one in the UK software charts in its opening week. 
GfK Chart-Track stated that week one sales of the trilogy’s finale were higher than those of the first two games combined. However, it’s important to note that Mass Effect 3 is the first in the series to be released on 360, PS3 and PC on day one.

Two other new releases made it into the top ten, one was Capcom brilliant beat ’em up mash-up, Street Fighter x Tekken (read our review). Despite having to go up against the Mass Effect 3 behemoth, it managed a very respectable third. The other was The Sims 3: Showtime expansion which entered in sixth (making four of the top 10 EA games).
Last week’s number one, SSX, continued to sale well moving down just one place to second.
