BioWare’s Casey Hudson has announced that much-anticipated RPG Mass Effect 3 has now gone gold. “Going gold” is, of course, an industry term which refers to the development team celebrating the completion of a project by painting each other gold and dancing around until they collapse. Or, it refers to the title entering production and being on target for its scheduled release date. I forget which.
Assuming it’s the latter, this means Mass Effect 3 will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on 6 March (North America) and 8 March (EU). To get your hands on (some of) it a little earlier, watch out for the demo that’s being released tomorrow for all platforms. Yes, you really can spend Valentine’s Day with the amazing gender-bending Commander Shepard (region permitting).
If you missed the trailer featuring Shepard’s female form, that’s viewable below. And if you missed John’s interview with Mass Effect 3 producer Mike Gamble, that’s here.
