Building a Venom Deck

Since decks only have 12 cards in Marvel Snap, every inclusion is valuable. Venom’s ability makes him an excellent card in strategies where you destroy your cards to trigger powerful effects and increase the power of your cards to overwhelm your opponent. Venom decks generally play three types of cards:

  • Cards that want to be destroyed.
  • Cards that destroy.
  • Payoff cards that provide huge power boosts.

Venom – Cards to destroy

To build a Venom deck in Marvel Snap, we need cards that want to be destroyed to take advantage of Venom’s effect. These are cards such as:

  • Bucky Barnes: When destroyed, a 6-power Winter Soldier is created in Bucky Barnes’ place, providing a significant power boost to a location when destroyed. Venom can trigger this effect and while buffing himself up.
  • Nova: When destroyed, Nova boosts the power of all others cards on your side of your board, letting you spread out your power across all three locations.
  • Wolverine: Wolverine boosts his power by 2 every time he is destroyed, and replays himself at a random location, letting you destroy him multiple times while having more and more power.
  • Deadpool: Deadpool doubles his power and returns himself every time he is destroyed, becoming a very high-power, 1-cost play. Venom can gain the large amounts of power that Deadpool ends up with after multiple destructions, making him an amazing inclusion in a Venom deck.

Venom – Cards that destroy

We need others cards like Venom to trigger destroy cards, in case you don’t draw him in a match. These can be cards like:

  • Carnage: A 2-power, 2-cost play that gains two power for every card he destroys. A great way to trigger multiple destroy effects while gaining large amounts of power.
  • Killmonger: A 3-cost, 3-power card that destroys all one power cards in play. Killmonger synergizes well with Nova and Deadpool, while ridding the enemy side of the board of 1-cost cards as well.
  • Arnim Zola: Arnim Zola destroys a card and plays it at the two other locations. This puts a high-power card like Venom in the other locations.

Venom- Payoff cards

Finally, the cards that we want to include as a payoff to all this destruction can be:

  • Death: A 9-power, 12-cost card that gets cheaper each time a card is destroyed, giving you a cheap high-power play.
  • Knull: A 6-cost card that has the combined power of all cards destroyed this game; an ideal finisher for the destroy archetype.

While these are only a few of the cards and possible combinations of decks that can be played with Venom, feel free to experiment. There is no shortage of combos or cool plays that you can make in the world of Marvel Snap.
