Nintendo was certainly hoping that Mario Kart 8 would the success that would help shift Wii U units and it seems their wish has been granted. Mario Kart 8 has sold over 2 million copies since its release date which was less than a month ago.

The news was first rumoured a few days ago but has since been confirmed by Genyo Takeda who spoke on behalf of the Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. The game has boosted Wii U sales and in the UK alone, the Wii U has seen a sales increase of 666%.
