Man vs. Machine achieves 999 player online FPS match

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

If you read this article last week, then you’ll know that a very special world record attempt took place last night. Swedish non-profit develop MuchDifferent hosted a multiplayer FPS match with the hope of having a 1,000 player battle.
Yesterday evening didn’t quite see 1,000 players, but it did see 999! Which, in a day and age where MAG had set the previous record with 256 players, that’s not bad going at all.
The game, Man vs. Machine, was build on the Unity engine – with this event serving also as a means of testing the technology for use in future products (be it games or otherwise). Here’s hoping a 1,000 players battle in Bomberman is not too far from reality.
