Love’s Lawyer Responds to Guitar Hero 5 Cobain Issue

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Courtney Love’s attorney has now responded to Activision following the  complaint by Courtney Love over the use of Kurt Cobain’s avatar in the new Guitar Hero 5. This week has seen comments fly back and forth between Courtney Love and Activision over the fact that Kurt Cobain’s avatar can be unlocked in the game to play any song. According to Love’s legal spokesperson this was never agreed. Speaking to TMZ, Love’s attorney added:”Activision is exploiting Kurt’s image in a manner anathema to the very essence of his music, spirit and essence.I along with Ms. Cobain hope those who love Kurt’s music strongly voice their sentiments to Activision and demand his image not be debased by singing the songs of Bon Jovi.”This dispute will likely rage on for a few more weeks and Activision Blizzard could face some sort of legal challenge from Cobain’s estate. However, it appears there is some confusion over what the agreement actually included and we’re sure lawyers will be pouring over the paperwork as we speak. We’ll keep you posted if this story hots up.
