Lethal Company: All weather conditions, explained

Cloudy with a chance of monsters.

When you’re exploring moons in Lethal Company, have you ever noticed that they can occasionally have different weather conditions?

Before you hop onto a moon with storms brewing or an eclipse happening, you should know the dangers ahead. Let me explain what each weather condition means.

What are all the weather effects in Lethal Company?

Whenever you’re looking at moons to choose from on your Computer Terminal, you’ll sometimes notice a certain weather effect in parentheses. There are five in total, each with their own caveats and dangers. You’re free to head onto those moons but land at your own risk.

Each day that passes, the weather will change on the moons, so you never know what you’re going to get next. These are the five weather conditions in Lethal Company:

  • Raining
  • Storming
  • Foggy
  • Flooding
  • Eclipse

Rainy

This weather is quite easy to comprehend, but can still leave some dangerous spots on the moon. When you hop on a planet that’s raining, the rain can leave quicksand spots outside. And you know what happens if you step in quicksand.

Make sure to watch where you’re stepping, since it can be easy to get out of it if you’re fast enough. But many players have drowned in quicksand only shortly after realizing they’re already knee-deep in it. This is especially true if you’ve run out of stamina.

Stormy

Although it’ll be raining a ton on a stormy moon, it fortunately doesn’t spawn any quicksand. But what does happen is a ton of thunder and lightning. The danger with lightning is that any metal item you’re holding is conductive enough to get you struck by lightning.

Even with any scrap you bring back that has metal on it, you’re very likely to be hit. This can lead to death if you’re not careful. This is why I’d avoid a stormy planet altogether since metal items are quite common.

Foggy

While foggy weather doesn’t seem all that bad, it can still make for terrible visibility. The entire environment is covered in a blanket of fog, making it very difficult to find your way to the main entrance. Even a flashlight won’t help you.

Another downside to a foggy moon is the fact that the Forest Keepers can still see you and your teammates through the fog. So while you may not spot them, they can see you easily from far enough away.

Flooding

On a flooding moon, you’re not only going to witness a flooded environment but a dynamic one. Throughout the day cycle, the height of the flood will change. Essentially, the flood will continue to rise the longer you stay on this moon.

You may be able to avoid it by going into the facility and getting out with items as fast as possible. Since the flood gets worse the longer you stay, you may be able to beat it, but it’s a risky chance.

Eclipse

Finally, the eclipse may be the most dangerous of them all. As you know with an eclipse, the moon positions perfectly in front of the sun, making a normal day turn much darker. This means that enemies can spawn a lot more freely during this time without having to worry about the sun.

You’ll get a lot more Giant Worms, Forest Keepers, and Eyeless Dogs. They’re extremely annoying and dangerous to deal with, so you can imagine how much worse it can be during an eclipse. Avoid eclipsed moons altogether.
