The last Lego MMO (Lego Universe) ended in closure, but the company is set to try again with a free-to-play, kid-friendly title based around the magical animal tribes of the ‘Legends of Chima’ sets. Due in autumn 2013, Lego Legends of Chima Online will let players “build and customise” their kingdom in the world of Chima.
Massive environments, secrets and missions are all promised, alongside a crafting system that will make use of Lego bricks to build new weapons and gadgets.
Two other tie-in games, Lego Speedorz (through Lego.com and iOS devices) and Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey (that one is on the handhelds) will give players rewards, redeemable in the MMO. Lego Speedorz is said to be available through Lego.com today, but at the time of writing doesn’t seem to be there.
