Left 4 Dead 1 Getting DLC Campaign

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Valve has announced that Left 4 Dead 1 will be getting a new campaign as DLC on both PC and Xbox 360.Titled “Crash Course,” the campaign takes place between the end of the original game’s No Mercy campaign and the beginning of the Death Toll campaign, bridging the gap between the two.According to Valve, you can expect new locations, new dialogue, and an “explosive finale” across single player, multiplayer, and co-operative modes. That said, the new campaign is apparently targeted at Versus mode, with Crash Course apparently designed to “deliver a complete Versus experience in just 30 minutes,” according to Valve. Infected players can see a recharge timer for their teammates, as well as adjusted item spawn behaviour to try and balance things out a bit more.Which is all well and good, and PC players will be getting the campaign, scheduled for release in September, for free – but it’ll cost Xbox 360 players 560 Microsoft Points. While this might soothe some of the people looking to boycott the forthcoming sequel, we suspect it’s going to seriously annoy 360 users. Perhaps they should read our preview to remind themselves why Left 4 Dead 2 might well be worth picking up.
