Layers of Fear, Bloober Team’s collection of everything in the franchise, just had its released window announced. Accompanying the announcement is a short trailer. There’s not much to say about the trailer itself, but we can confirm that Layers of Fear will arrive sometime in June. For now, there is no exact date, but we’ll likely get one as the summer gets closer.
There may be some slight confusion over the game’s title. Initially, the collection was called Layers of Fears, but Bloober Team decided to change the name to Layers of Fear. This was in an effort to simplify the name a little. It’s not a massive change, but it’s one that the game now has.
Layers of Fear will link the whole series together in June
Layers of Fear is essentially a remade collection of the first game, Layers of Fear 2, and all DLC content. There will also be some new content that aims to tie the experience together. It’s not quite right to call it the third entry, but longtime fans of the Layers of Fear series will want to check the game out. The collection should also be the best way for newcomers to experience the whole story.
As Layers of Fear is technically a remake, Bloober Team has updated the visuals across the board. Ray tracing, 4K resolution, and HDR are all supported. And the whole package now runs on Unreal Engine 5, so it can take advantage of the engine’s improvements. There are also some new core mechanics as well, but we’ll have to wait and see what those are. More information should come around as we get closer to Layers of Fear‘s June release window.
It’s fair to say that Bloober Team has quite a lot on its plate. With Layers of Fear landing in June and the Silent Hill 2 remake incoming, there’s plenty for horror fans to chew on. Hopefully, these releases can solidify Bloober Team’s place in the genre. The developer certainly has a lot of people to make happy in the next year or so.
