While there are many general things you should know about Lae’zel, here are some big choices you should make to gain her approval:

  • Force Zorru to bow or kneel to Lae’zel.
  • Refuse to aid Zevlor.
  • Promise Nettie you’ll take the poison if you turn.
  • Kill the Owlbear and its cub.
  • Convince Andrick and Brynna to avenge their brother.
  • Destroy the tadpole from Edowin.
  • Tell Crusher to kiss your foot.
  • Allow Lae’zel to speak for herself upon entering the Creche Y’llek.
  • Attack Lady Esther for attempting to steal a Githyanki egg.
  • Allow Lae’zel to use the zaith’isk.

Other than these big choices that happen during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, there are plenty of tips that you should know when approaching any situation with Lae’zel.

Side with Lae’zel over Shadowheart

Shadowheart and Lae’zel have a pretty deep hatred for each other at the beginning of this game. During their many quarrels, you’ll gain Lae’zel’s approval if you side with her.

Just take note that you’ll also gain Shadowheart’s disapproval. If you want both of these character’s approval, you’ll have to balance when to side with each character.

Be forthright and harsh

There are many situations where you may think you’d be saying something too harsh. But luckily, Lae’zel likes when you say brash things. For example, if you tell the Tiefling kids training in the Druid Grove that they’ll die, Lae’zel will approve of your statement.

She’s fond of brutal interrogations and getting right into the thick of combat. Lae’zel is quite direct about what she likes, so it’s not very hard to understand her motivations.

Respect Githyanki society

Lae’zel likes when you become interested in Githyanki culture, and will give you her approval when you agree with her ideas. She truly believes that the Githyanki ways are superior, so reflecting these ideas will make her happy.

Speaking of Githyanki, allow her to handle situations with the Githyanki in her way. Don’t try to make decisions for her, especially when exploring the Creche.

Stick to the mission

Lae’zel will often get mad if you take on a variety of side quests. She has a mission, and she wants to stick to it. So refusing certain side quests will give you her approval.

This isn’t to say you should refuse every side quest but perhaps focus more on her goals and personal side quest over more trivial quests.

Decline any use of the tadpoles

Lae’zel despises the idea that you can gain Illithid Powers by consuming more tadpoles. Don’t even attempt to persuade her into trying it, Githyanki are sworn enemies of Mind Flayers, after all.

Speaking of tadpoles, Lae’zel knows and trusts only one way to get rid of the tadpoles. This can be done at the Creche, and if you try to go about it another way, she won’t agree with you.
