La-Mulana 2 seeks $200,000 on Kickstarter, should manage it

It’ll look a little something like this.

The original La-Mulana had a pretty interesting path to the PC. After the 2006 version was ported to WiiWare in 2011, people started asking for it on our own lovely platform. It ended up being Greenlit on Steam (after being ignored for far too long) last year.

Now, developers Playism are making a sequel. They want to do the La-Mulana 2 they’ve “always wanted to make” and “play a part in helping Japan regain its position as a fundamental part of the gaming world stage.” Don’t worry guys! Dark Souls already did that second part.

Anyway, to that end they’re seeking a pretty modest $200,000 USD on Kickstarter, and already have $63,000 of that. A betting man would probably suggest they’re going to make it. La-Mulana 2 will be developed primarily for the PC and is intended to be enjoyable for those returning to the series and newbies alike (although I’m sure it’ll be as tough as ever.)

This time you’ll be playing as Lumisa Kosugi, who is either “Lemeza’s wife’s daughter from a previous marriage” or “Professor Shorn’s illegitimate child.” There are the usual variety of Kickstarter rewards, from the basic game to getting yourself named after a Skeleton or a shopkeeper.

In probably related news, the original game is rather cheap ($1.50 USD) on Steam today.
