How to recruit the Chimera in King’s Bounty II

Let’s discuss how to get the Chimera unit in King’s Bounty II.

The first time you encounter a Chimera in King’s Bounty II is during the “Abandoned Catacombs” sidequest. You can either battle it head-on (Power) or follow Logras’ clue to cook food to distract it (Finesse).

But, to actually recruit Chimeras, you’ll need to complete the “Beauty and the Beasts” sidequest. Similar to “Fatal Voyage,” you’ll have to get the barricades removed in Floster. This lets you talk to Erasmus who sends you to Belinda in the Witch’s House.

Note: There are actually some puzzles here, so I suggest taking a look at our King’s Bounty II puzzle solutions guide.

Later, you’ll reach a mages’ hub with a gate that you can destroy (Power) and a gargoyle puzzle for you to solve (Finesse). Whatever the case may be, you’ll battle an army comprised of Chimeras, Fire Elementals, and Earth Elementals. However, solving the puzzle does give you some Gargoyle allies.

After winning the fight, you’re given Erasmus’ Amulet (+6% resistance and +25% damage vs. magical creatures). If you check inside the building, the Gargoyle NPC will let you recruit Chimeras at 12,000 gold per unit. It has a maximum of six of these for sale.
