If, like me, you weren’t tremendously excited by the fightin’ parts of BioShock Infinite, then the most recent DLC ‘Clash in the Clouds’ probably didn’t make much of an impression. It’s likely that you have higher hopes for the forthcoming two-part DLC ‘Burial at Sea’ in which Booker and Elizabeth will be doing the noir detective fandango down Rapture way.
In a recent Q&A chat with the PlayStation Blog (yeah, I know, but this stuff applies to us as well … just imagine the interview has nicer textures or something,) Ken Levine had a few words to say about how the combat would differ in Burial.
The combat is quite different in Burial At Sea than it was in Infinite. There are smaller scale combats that give the player much greater opportunity to observe the space ahead of time and set up the combat situation to his or her taste. Therefore traps become much more meaningful than they were in Infinite. So stealth becomes a larger component. We generally think combat is a little more deadly but a little less frenetic.
So there we have it. More preparations ahead of time, smaller scale (presumably due to the closer quarters of Rapture) and a bit of stealth stuff.
Episode one of BioShock Infinite’s ‘Burial at Sea’ DLC doesn’t have a release date yet, but the ‘Season Pass’ for the game claimed all included DLC would be out by March 2014.
