Job posting points to Valve hardware dabbling

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

Valve may have denied the Steam console rumours from last month, but there’s clearly some sort of hardware development going on at the studio. A job posting on Valve’s own site calls for two hardware engineers. One is described as an ‘electronics engineer’ and the other ‘mechanical’.
The job summary explains that Valve has been involved with games software for a number of years, but now “we’re developing hardware to enhance those experiences”.
Details are not at all specific, but the listing does state that it’s not talking about “me-too mice and gamepads here”, so we can rule those out. Aside from that, the only other clue is that Valve’s hardware team is doing “hardware design, prototyping, testing, and production across a wide range of platforms.”
Mysterious stuff.
