If you were a Jagged Alliance: Flashback Kickstarter backer who pitched in enough cash for closed alpha access, you’ll be able to play the game today. Full Control has announced that its crowd-funded entrance into the Jagged Alliance universe is launching a closed alpha build and will be coming to Steam Early Access some time between now and the close of June.

Full Control will be looking for player opinions throughout the closed alpha and Early Access periods, so if you have strong feelings about quipping mercenaries with AK-47s then be sure to air them in the appropriate places. According to the developer, the extra money earned from an Early Access launch will mean “new features and content can be added to make the game that fans of the franchise have always imagined.” Plus, you know, extra money is always nice, right? This is a series about mercenaries after all.

“Fans of the franchise will be excited about the return of the beloved turn-based action of the original game, and we can’t wait to get feedback from our Kickstarter backers and the rest of the community when Early Access on Steam begins. So go ahead, talk to us!” says Jagged Alliance: Flashback’s Thomas Lund.

Flashback will be based on the fictional 1980s island of San Hermanos. Your plucky mercenaries will be trying to spring the local rebel leader out of prison and take on elected (“elected,” maybe?) president The Prince. I’m not sure who would elect Prince as the president of anything besides getting funky as hell but there we go.

For more on the game, I’d imagine there’s a wealth of information at the official website.
