It’s a steal: Monaco level editor released for free

Remember Monaco? If the answer is “no” then I hate you, because it’s the first (and so far only) game I’ve awarded 10/10. We even did an IncGamers Plays, showing off two levels. Go and bloody play it.

Anyway: the top-down mostly-co-op heist-’em-up has just been updated with a very, very easy-looking level editor named The Mole’s Workshop. Better still, said level editor is powered by Steam Workshop, so it’s very easy to both find levels to play (with featured levels and user-rated levels to thin out the diamonds from the ore) and to submit your own. Huzzah!

Also, there’s a Mac version of the game now. The only reason I mention that is that some of you might have a Mac as well as a PC, and having Monaco on Steam means you instantly get access to both versions. So that’s nice. Well, it is if you like playing your games on a clearly inferior system, or if your PC’s broken or something.

There’s a tutorial video of the level editor below, showing off how to create a complete (but simple) level in under two minutes. Huzzah, again!

When not writing about games, Tim can occasionally be found speedrunning terrible ones, making people angry in Dota 2, or playing something obscure and random. He's also weirdly proud of his status as (probably) the Isle of Man's only professional games journalist.
