After the announcement about the closing of Lionhead Studios and the cancellation of Fable Legends, there have been new reports going around the industry, which claim that the RPG title might not be completely dead.
MCV reported that three sources within Lionhead Studios indicated that there have been talks about moving forward with the development of the game. Lionhead employees have been asked if they would be interested in continuing to work on Fable Legends or if they want to take a severance package and leave the studio at once. One source claimed that there is also the possibility of picking up development as an independent studio.
Microsoft answered to both MCV and GameSpot the same comment regarding this scenario: “We aren’t sharing additional details beyond that we have ceased development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees at Lionhead about our proposed closure of the studio as well.”
Fable Legends was announced in 2013 as an online RPG based on a free-to-play concept for PC and Xbox One. The game’s beta is already out and will continue for some time, leaving people with the hope that the title might still get an official release date.
How do you feel about these news? Would you be interested in seeing Fable Legends released on the market?
