What Genre is The Finals? Answered

The Finals had a few betas throughout 2023 that players quickly became invested in as it offered a fast-paced playstyle compared to other popular shooters like Fortnite and Modern Warfare 3. Though, at first glance, it might be hard to judge what type of game The Finals is, exactly.

One could justify that The Finals is a battle royale, based on gameplay, as it is an open-map multiplayer shooter, where players will battle it out with one another to see who can be the last one standing.

However, we’d say that the game is more like an arena class-based objective shooter, where players compete in three teams against one another.

So, while the gameplay may appear like a battle royale at first glance, players will soon notice that the overall gameplay of The Finals is more fast-paced and team-based than ordinary battle royales.

With the game having specific classes and roles, it steers away from normal BRs such as Warzone, so players will have to coordinate their gameplay.

Classes in The Finals range from light, medium, and heavy, and all of these are going to serve a purpose throughout the game. You’ll want to test them all out to see which one you prefer the most.
