Is Tears of the Kingdom harder than Breath of the Wild? Answered

Which open world Zelda game is harder?

Many people are comparing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with the previous entry, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In all honesty, Tears of the Kingdom is basically Breath of the Wild 2 since the two games are extremely similar. One thing many people are debating now is if Tears of the Kingdom is harder than Breath of the Wild.

Which is more difficult: Tears of the Kingdom or Breath of the Wild?

In my opinion and in the opinion of many debaters online, Tears of the Kingdom is much harder than Breath of the Wild. Since Breath of the Wild was the first open-world Zelda game, there was a lot more handholding with puzzles and where to go and the enemies were more manageable.

Tears of the Kingdom feels like it knows everyone has grown up and is better at gaming, which may not be true for many new and returning fans. The enemies hit harder and are harder to eliminate, the puzzles are much more puzzling, and knowing where to go and what to do for specific listed and unlisted quests is challenging. Tears of the Kingdom is harder than Breath of the Wild in almost every way.

But difficulty doesn’t mean it is less fun. Tears of the Kingdom is arguably better and more fun than Breath of the Wild because you need to use the new mechanics to solve the hard puzzles and beat the hard bosses. If you’re struggling with the difficulty of Tears of the Kingdom, try Fusing objects with higher attack power to your weapons to deal more damage or find better armor. For the puzzles, try learning the Ultrahand and Recall “Time Ladder” technique or anything similarly creative. The level of freedom injects difficulty, but it also means everything is more rewarding.

While The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is harder than Breath of the Wild, you can make it much easier by checking out our Tears of the Kingdom guides. I know, I know, of course I would plug my own website’s guides, but in all seriousness, there are hundreds of difficult shrines, hard-to-find quest items, and boss cheeses that we can help you with. Tears of the Kingdom is very difficult and there is no shame in looking up a guide to know where to go next.
