Street Fighter 6 has come out to roaring praise across the board. It brings the notoriously inaccessible genre back to the masses with intuitive controls and a campaign with substance. Beautiful graphics render everyone’s favorite characters in glorious detail as they get pummelled or deliver the pummelling around exciting arenas. The game will be playable on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, and of course, on PC. However, will Street Fighter 6 be seen on Nintendo’s handheld console, the Switch?
Is Street Fighter on Switch?
Street Fighter 6 is not on Switch. It has been left remarkably absent from Nintendo’s flagship handheld, leaving fans rather put out. The console seems to be perfect for the game. No platform puts itself forward as the couch co-op party play console more than the Switch. Sitting around with some friends using the removable JoyCons would have been a great addition to any party, but alas.
Despite the fact that Street Fighter 6 coming to Switch would be a fantastic addition to its library, it probably won’t ever happen. The next-gen graphics and engine would push the already outdated hardware far beyond its capabilities. Even Nintendo’s own games are pushing the Switch to its limits, with players reporting lag and framerate drops in Tears of The Kingdom. It’s likely we will see more games skipping the Switch as time moves on.
Cross-Play Enabled
Street Fighter 6 will be cross-play and cross-platform on release. This means you can not only play across generations of consoles but also against other platforms. However, this just further excludes Switch from the line-up. If a console can’t keep up with performance, it won’t be possible to play with more powerful platforms. Every frame is essential in combo-fighters, and the slightest lag will mean K.O.
