Are you wondering if you can play Redfall on PS4, PS5, or Xbox One? Many video game developers have announced their support for last-gen consoles is fading. There is also exclusivity from certain video game publishers that restrict when and where a video game is released. Is this true with Redfall, or can you play on any platform you want? Unfortunately, there are multiple answers to this question, and they may surprise you.
Can you play Redfall on PS4, PS5, or Xbox One?
No, Redfall is not on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch. According to Harvey Smith in an interview with IGN France, Redfall’s Co-Creative/Studio Director, the development of Redfall on PlayStation 5 was scrapped after Microsoft bought ZeniMax Media, which is the parent company of Bethesda Softworks. In addition, Microsoft wanted the studio to focus on Game Pass, Xbox, and PC solely.
This explains the exclusive of Redfall on PlayStation consoles, but what about previous-gen consoles like Xbox One? Unfortunately, Redfall is a current-gen game, so it isn’t available on Xbox One. It’s a confusing decision because Redfall was released on consoles with Quality Mode only, which means you can only play it with 30 FPS, even on current-gen consoles. However, you can still play Redfall using Cloud Gaming if you are a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber.
You can do so by following these steps:
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide
- Select My Games & Apps > See all
- Choose Full Library > Xbox Game Pass
- Select Redfall with the cloud icon on it
Note: Clouding Gaming only has local player support, meaning you can only play Redfall via single player mode, not co-op.
As far as the Nintendo Switch goes, there were never any plans to release Redfall on the Switch. This was the case before Microsoft purchased ZeniMax media. However, with how Microsoft likes to stay exclusive with their games, you most likely won’t get a port to the Switch later.
