Remember that old Capcom franchise Dino Crisis that first released in 1999? Well, die-hard Dino Crisis fans have been wanting a revival or a remake for years, especially since Resident Evil remakes have been popular. Capcom hasn’t announced anything yet about Dino Crisis, but it did recently release Exoprimal. This sci-fi action dinosaur shooter is making Dino Crisis fans question if it’s related to Exoprimal at all, which we have an answer to below.
Is Exoprimal in the Dino Crisis universe?
Sadly, the answer to if Exoprimal is related to Dino Crisis is a no. Capcom Director Takuro Hiraoka revealed a year ago to IGN that Exoprimal has nothing to do with Dino Crisis. That may be disapointing to hear if you’re a fan of the old survival horror game.
Why is this such a shock? Well, the producer of Dino Crisis, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, was apparently pretty involved with Exoprimal’s development. It also confused players when they noticed a certain character similarity. One woman in the trailers shared some resemblance to Regina, one of the main characters from Dino Crisis. Now that the game is available, it won’t take long to realize the red-haired woman Majesty in Exoprimal isn’t the same at all.
Unfortunately, these uncanny resemblances and similarities to the Dino Crisis franchise have left some fans disappointed. But look on the bright side, with the huge success of Capcom remakes, it may decide to revive Dino Crisis! Exoprimal has its own original story, characters, and universe. Although both these IPs have dinosaurs, they’re not related.
Also, seeing as Exoprimal is doing some collaborations with Monster Hunter and Street Fighter 6, who’s to say it won’t try a Dino Crisis one? That may just make fans even more upset at Capcom neglecting the franchise. Despite this, I have high hopes that it’s hiding a Dino Crisis remake behind closed doors.
Exoprimal is available on Game Pass and Steam.
