Diablo 4 has been available on all platforms for quite some time now, but some fans have been holding out hope that the game would eventually make it to a subscription service like Xbox Game Pass. With Diablo 4’s $70 price tag, that’s an understandable decision.
While new games tend to avoid Game Pass unless they’re first-party Xbox titles, there are a few exceptions. Plus, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard finally getting finalized, there’s a glimmer of hope for Game Pass subscribers searching for their next big RPG.
Will Diablo 4 Be on Xbox Game Pass?
Diablo 4 is coming to Game Pass on March 28 for Xbox consoles, PC, and Cloud. Now that the Activision Blizzard and Microsoft merger has finally gone through, Activision Blizzard games will start hitting the service beginning with Diablo 4. More will come down the line, and this means the Xbox Game Pass library will continue to get even more stacked.
Since Blizzard is now technically a first-party Xbox studio, it’s unlikely that Diablo 4 will ever leave Xbox Game Pass, either. That’s great news for fans who want to stick around for the game’s seasonal content, which adds new items and mechanics every few months. Major Diablo 4 expansions won’t be included in Xbox Game Pass, however, so subscribers will still need to purchase any big DLC drops that add new playable classes and regions to the map.

The release of Diablo 4 on Xbox Game Pass marks a turning point for Xbox as it coincides with some first-party Xbox games making their way to other platforms. Adding games like Diablo 4 to Game Pass is Xbox’s way of cementing the Xbox platform as the best place to play their games, though, since Game Pass will only ever be available on Xbox platforms no matter what. With Diablo 4 and other Activision Blizzard games coming to Xbox Game Pass, they’ll reach a much wider audience than ever before.
Diablo 4 has already improved quite a bit with its post-launch support, and an influx of new players via Xbox Game Pass will only make the game even better. Plus, there’s a good chance that other games in the series like Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 Resurrected will eventually make their way to the subscription service as well later down the line.
