If you bought yourself a Mac and you want to start playing games, you’re going to have a bad time. Although Macs are fantastic at a lot of things, gaming is not one of their fortes. Even with their release of a new all-in-one chip, there is still not a lot of support for the platform. Now, with the release of one of the most popular shooters in the world, the question stands. Can you play CS2 on Mac, or has it been left behind again?
Is CS2 playable on Mac?
Nope, not at all. If you want to play CS2, you’re going to have to trade your Mac in and buy yourself a PC. You could probably buy two gaming PCs for the price of one middle-market Mac, too, if you wanted to. Either way, Mac is not going to be able to run CS2, even with it’s shiny new chip.
This may leave a few players put out, but anyone running with a Mac probably knows that they aren’t going to be using their machine for playing games. However, Steam is now available on Mac, and there are a few compatible games for the platform, even if CS2 isn’t one of them.
Mac Steam support
Steam can be installed on a Mac computer, but not through the usual means. You will have to go a little off-piste and download the program from your browser rather than the App Store. You must visit the Steam website and follow the directions to download from the top right of the homepage.
Once you have given your Mac the permissions it needs to download the client, you can sign into your Steam account. From there, you can browse the Steam application.
It is worth noting that, although Mac cannot run CS2, there are a good number of games it can run. Simply head into the categories section, and select the Mac option. You will find all sorts of amazing games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Farming Simulator 22.
