Is Brokkr’s Smithy unusable in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Answered

A locked shop.

Upon finding Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl in Dragon’s Dogma 2 I came to wonder whether or not it was unusable. I would just see Brokkr sharpening his blade, and his apprentice wouldn’t sell me anything either. We can tell you whether or not it’s a real smithy.

Luckily, Brokkr’s Smithy is usable in Dragon’s Dogma 2 as a weapons shop, but only after completing the quests “Dulled Steel, Cold Forge” and “Steeled Resolve, Blazing Forge“. To begin the first quest, you need to visit Vernworth and walk around Vernworth Castle. At some point, a guard named Roman will walk up to you and ask you to speak to him.

Follow Roman and he’ll eventually give you the dulled regalia sword. He suggests that you find someone who can repair it and says you should speak to the armorer in town to find out more. I didn’t even need to do that since one of my Pawns told me they heard of a smithy in Bakbattahl.

Head to Brokkr’s Smithy in Bakbattahl and give Brokkr the sword. He’ll refuse to fix it since he’s not working anymore, but his apprentice will want to speak with you about it once Brokkr leaves.

Sara, the apprentice, says she can repair it if you find 15 or more pieces of glimmercoal. You’ll get the next quest location, which is in a cave called Digger’s Ruins.

Collect 15 or more pieces of glimmercoal and hand them over to Sara. You’ll now have to wait about a day before checking up on her, to which she said she’s still figuring out how to fix it. Wait one more day and check in on Brokkr to find out that Sara left to find a better place to repair the sword.

Where to find Sara

You’ll end up finding Sara in Mountain Base Cave at the Volcanic Isle, which is southeast of Bakbattahl. Once you make the journey to this cave you’ll find her deep within it. Sara has finished working on the sword and you must now bring Sara back to the cave entrance.

Upon exiting the cave, Sara will tell you to meet her at Brokkr’s Smithy so she can give you the completed sword. Take one last journey back to the smithy for the sword, and you can finally head back to Roman to hand him the completed regalia sword.

As a reward for completing this difficult quest, you’ll receive 35,000 gold and you can unlock the ability to purchase items from Brokkr’s Smithy. You’ll be able to buy some pretty nice weapons and armor, so you don’t want to miss out on unlocking this shop.

This smithy can also enhance your equipment. As a reminder, depending on who you get your enhancements from, they can result in different upgrades.
